Description
A yellow, summer apple of lost identity found in the historic Lebanon orchard district, Montezuma County, Colorado. DNA informs us that this apple is from very old ancestry.
Discovered near the homestead house where summer apples were once commonly planted for their ease of harvest and use. Ripens mid to end of July with Yellow Transparent and Lodi but is more firm, crisp, and juicy than the other two. Keeps well for a summer apple. Good for fresh eating right off the tree and likely good in pies, sauce, and dried.Â
This is one of MORP’s endangered Guardian Trees. We encourage you to grow it and add it to Fruit RegisTREE to help with our preservation efforts.
