Description

Assigning color groups to unknown apples with same DNA is MORP’s system of keeping track of unknown apples that match each other. To date, MORP has found several trees of this unknown variety growing in the historic orchard at the Old Fort at Hesperus, Colorado, at 7,600 feet elevation. Cold hardy. DNA shows that its closest relatives are mostly German, Polish, and Russian cultivars. Ripens towards late summer, early fall.

This is one of MORP’s endangered Guardian Trees. We encourage you to grow it and add it to Fruit RegisTREE to help with our preservation efforts.
